Carl Zeiss Young Investigator Award

This annual award recognizes a young researcher for their distinguished research contribution in the wider field of ophthalmic research, including visual psychophysics, physiological and biomedical optics and the research efforts to overcome the respective optical limitations of vision.

Carl Zeiss sponsors this award, which honors a young researcher during his/her PhD thesis work or within a maximum of five years after finalizing their PhD at the time of nomination.

About the Award

"A distinguished research contribution in ophthalmic research" is any high-quality original research that has direct implications and contributions at the interface of physics, biology and medicine, with focus on optical issues with high relevance for the quality of vision (for instance for the optical corrections of the eye). Nominators and candidates may reside in, or be citizens of, any country. However nominators and candidates should have spent a significant portion of their research activities as member of and/or in close collaboration with European Research Institutes.

The selection procedure will be performed by peer review. The award winner we will be announced and featured at the Gateway to Vision Research www.vision-research.eu and other publications of interest.
